Cannot find Build command under the Tools menu because it no longer exists.
Cause:
The 'Build' command under the 'Tools' menu no longer exists.
Solution:
The 'Build' command under the 'Tools' menu has been replaced with the 'Build Slide Text' command to build text, and the 'Animation Settings...' command, to build objects, under the 'Tools' menu.
Do one of the following to create a build effect:
1) To build slide text:
a) Select the text to build.
NOTE: If text is not selected, the build will be applied to all text within the slide except for the title.
b) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Build Slide Text'. (The Build Slide Text submenu appears.)
c) Select the desired effect from the 'Build Slide Text' submenu.
d) (Special Case) If the 'Other...' option is selected from the 'Build Slide Text' submenu, the 'Animation Settings' dialog box appears.
e) Select the desired text build option from the 'Build Options' drop-down list box.

NOTE 1: Depending on the type of text selected, the choices in the 'Build Options' drop-down list box change.
NOTE 2: If 'Don't Build' is selected from the 'Build Options' drop-down list box, all other selections appear dimmed.
f) (Optional) Select the 'In reverse order' check box in the 'Build Options' group.
NOTE: If 'All at Once' is selected from the 'Build Options' drop-down list box, the 'In reverse order' check box in the 'Build Options' group appears dimmed.
g) (Optional) Select the 'Start when previous build ends' check box in the 'Build Options' group.
h) (Optional) Select the desired build effect from the first drop-down list box in the 'Effects' group.
Build Effects
NOTE: The following eight predefined build effects are available from the 'Animation Effects' toolbar: 'Drive-In Effect', 'Flying Effect', 'Camera Effect', 'Flash Once', 'Laser Text Effect', 'Typewriter Effect', 'Reverse Text Build', and 'Drop-In Text Effect'.

i) (Optional) Select the smallest element of text to be built from the second drop-down list box in the second 'Effects' group.
NOTE 1: Text can be built paragraph by paragraph, word by word, or letter by letter.

NOTE 2: If 'All at Once' is selected from the 'Build Options' group, the 'By Paragraph' drop-down list box appears dimmed.
j) Select the desired sound to be played during the build effect from the third drop-down list box in the 'Effects' group.

NOTE 1: Use the scroll bar to access more sound choices.
NOTE 2: If 'Other Sounds...' is selected, the 'Add Sound' dialog box appears, where a sound file can be located and selected from the hard drive or network to be played during the build effect.
k) Select when to build the object from the 'Build this object' drop-down list box.

NOTE: Depending on how many objects are on the slide, the number of choices in the 'Build this object' drop-down list box will vary.
l) Select an action or color for after the build from the 'After Build Step' drop-down list box.

NOTE: If 'Other Color..' is selected from the 'After Build Step' drop-down list box, select a standard or customized color not offered on the 'After Build Step' drop-down list box.
m) Click 'OK'.
2) To build slide objects, such as Clip Art, Pictures, Movies, Sounds, Microsoft Graphs and Tables or any other objects:
a) Select the object to be built.
b) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Animation Settings...'. (The Animation Setting dialog box appears.)
c) Select 'Build' from the 'Build Options' drop-down list box.

d) (Optional) Select the 'Start when previous build ends' check box in the 'Build Options' group.
e) (Optional) Select the desired build effect from the first drop-down list box in the 'Effects' group.

NOTE 2: Four predefined object build effects are available from the 'Animation Effects' toolbar.
f) Select the desired sound to be played during the build effect from the third (or second available) drop-down list box in the 'Effects' group.

NOTE 2: If 'Other Sounds...' is selected, the 'Add Sound' dialog box appears, where a sound file can be located and selected from the hard drive or network to be played during the build effect.
g) Select when to build the object from the 'Build this object' drop-down list box.

h) Select an action or color for after the build from the 'After Build Step' drop-down list box.

NOTE: If 'Other Color..' is selected from the 'After Build Step' drop-down list box, choose a standard or customized color not offered on the 'After Build Step' drop-down list box.
i) (Optional) Select the desired play option from the 'Play Options' drop-down list box.
Play Options
NOTE 1: The 'Play Options' group is available to all objects except Picture objects.
NOTE 2: The selections for movie and sound objects are usually 'Don't Play', 'Play', 'Edit' and 'Open'. The selection for clip art is 'Replace'. The selections for most objects are 'Edit' and/or 'Open'.
j) (Optional) Click 'More'. (The More Play Options dialog box appears.)
NOTE: If 'Don't Play' is selected in step 2)i), 'More...' appears dimmed.
k) Select the desired radio button from the 'Start' group.

NOTE: If the 'Automatically' radio button is selected, type the desired time.
l) Select the desired radio button option from the 'Playing media clips' group.
Playing media clips group
NOTE: The 'Playing media clips' group is ONLY available for certain sound objects and movie objects.
m) (Optional) If the 'Continue slide show, play in background' radio button is selected, do one of the following:
1] Select the 'Stop when this slide ends' radio button to stop the movie when the current slide ends.
2] Select the 'Stop after' radio button to stop the movie after a desired number of slides.
NOTE: If the 'Stop after' radio button is selected, type the desired number of slides after which to stop the movie.
Continue slide show, play in background
n) (Optional) Select the 'Hide while not playing' check box to hide the movie object.
o) Click 'OK'. (The Animation Settings dialog box reappears.)
p) Click 'OK'.
NOTE: Click 'Cancel' to abort the changes.
